JOB SUMMARY: The Customer Service Representative (CSR) builds positive relationships with customers by answering questions, providing information about district tennis programs and events, and processing activity registration requests in a courteous and professional manner. As the first point of contact for customers, the CSR must be well-informed, friendly, and able to communicate effectively. This position requires excellent customer service skills, proficiency with computers, and the ability to make sound decisions autonomously. The Tennis Customer Service Representative reports primarily to the Racquet Sports Supervisor.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES :

  • None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide information to the public regarding programming at the Centennial Recreation Complex and throughout the District

  • Process registration requests for classes, lessons, activities, facility rentals, and beach/pool, dog, and parking passes

  • Field and direct telephone calls made to the Centennial Recreation Complex main line

  • Communicate facility expectations with patrons

  • Perform opening and closing duties diligently and safely

  • Check season passes for validity as patrons enter the facility

  • Accept and properly record daily usage fees

  • Monitor activities to ensure compliance with Park District guidelines

  • Reconcile and close out daily sales receipts and daily reports using established batching procedures

  • Actively support the Park District's sustainability goals.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents

  • Obey the practical safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted by the department

  • Become familiar with and follow the safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District, including, but not limited to, fire, severe weather, and evacuation procedures

  • Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions observed to the immediate supervisor, Human Resources/Risk Management division

  • Attend and participate in required safety training 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be knowledgeable about Wilmette Park District's facilities, staff, events, and activities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schedules, and procedural manuals

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to deliver friendly, helpful customer service

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Dependability, flexibility, and a team-player attitude

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and climb or balance

  • The noise level is moderate to high at times

  • Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Complete annual District trainings, including, but not limited to, Sexual Harassment Training annually and Mandated Reporter training every three years

HOURS:

  • Hours vary based on program schedules, staffing needs, and facility operations, including weekday, evening, and weekend shifts as assigned.
