Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Machine Tender to support daily operations within our CNC department. This role is responsible for tending automated production machinery, keeping materials stocked at machines, accurately handling finished parts, performing routine quality checks, and ensuring production orders are completed correctly and on time.

This entry-level, hands-on position plays a critical role in maintaining production flow, minimizing downtime, and supporting overall manufacturing efficiency. Training is provided, and skills are developed on the job.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Production Support

  • Load raw materials into machines and unload finished parts safely and efficiently
  • Keep stock, materials, and production orders staged in front of machines to support continuous operation
  • Supply machines with required materials, tools, and components to prevent downtime

Production Order Completion

  • Accurately count finished parts and verify quantities against production orders
  • Complete production orders in the system or on paper, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Communicate shortages, discrepancies, or production delays to leads or supervisors

Quality Control & Monitoring

  • Perform routine quality control checks, including visual inspection and basic measuring
  • Pull QC samples per work instructions and report nonconforming parts or trends

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform basic machine care, including cleaning, lubricating, and routine upkeep
  • Report mechanical problems or quality concerns to maintenance or leadership

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
  • Immediately address or report unsafe conditions

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior manufacturing, CNC, or machine operation experience helpful but not required
  • On-the-job training provided

Technical Skills (Helpful)

  • Knowledge of, and ability to, utilize current hardware and software technologies including; word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, Internet, SAP, and other applicable software.
  • Ability to read blueprints or work instructions
  • Familiarity with basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and parts
  • Comfortable working around machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and consistency

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to meet pre-employment screening requirements
  • Satisfactorily complete the 90 probationary period
  • Willingness to follow all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL

  • This job operated in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fi ne motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • You must wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
