Senior Electrical Engineer – Mission-Critical Infrastructure

This role supports the expansion of an advanced electrical engineering function within a technology-enabled infrastructure platform. The position is highly cross-functional and focused on the end-to-end design and execution of complex electrical systems supporting mission-critical facilities. You will contribute across the full asset lifecycle, from early-stage concept development through commissioning and operational handover.

You will work closely with internal engineering, product, and operations stakeholders while directing the efforts of external engineering and delivery partners operating as an extension of the internal team. In addition, you will contribute technical insight into longer-term platform development, identifying emerging technologies and helping guide internal adoption where relevant.

This is a full-time, individual contributor role reporting into senior technical leadership. The position is based in Northern California, or remote with limited travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and review of electrical designs for HV and MV systems supporting mission-critical facilities, including switchgear, transformers, distribution equipment, and protection schemes
  • Perform or oversee detailed power system analyses, including load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies
  • Support planning and execution for installation, testing, and commissioning of HV and MV electrical equipment in coordination with construction and delivery partners
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety requirements
  • Evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies in power systems engineering and provide informed recommendations for internal use
  • Maintain technical ownership of power system scope across concept design, detailed engineering, procurement, manufacturing, delivery, and on-site execution
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify, manage, and resolve technical risks and execution challenges

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience designing, delivering, or operating electrical systems for mission-critical or high-reliability facilities
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex technical projects across multiple disciplines and stakeholders
  • Deep expertise in HV and MV power systems, including primary distribution, protection, and electrical safety practices
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and quickly develop expertise in new technical domains
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, construction, and executive audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience supporting large-scale, complex electrical infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to distributed energy, microgrids, or grid-interactive facilities
  • Familiarity with adjacent mechanical or controls disciplines
  • California, Maryland, United States
