Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The Niagara County Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services is expanding our Outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services We have a great team and great opportunities

We are seeking a contractual Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, 15 – 20 hours per week, for our Integrated Outpatient Mental Health/Substance Abuse Treatment program which serves children, adolescents, and adults. The primary location is Niagara Falls, New York.

Niagara County, through our Certified Community Behavioral Healthcare Center (CCBHC), provides integrated mental health and substance use disorder treatment in a setting that promotes caring for the whole person. Through our outpatient programs, we offer services to children starting at age 5, adolescents, and adults across the lifespan. We have a well-established treatment team that includes experienced therapists who screen, assess, monitor, and provide ongoing individual, group and family therapy. Front office staff manage patient scheduling, and nursing staff provide support to psychiatric personnel as well as additional patient support through health monitoring.

We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who will work in coordination with our Therapists, Peer Specialist, Case Manager, and Nursing staff. Primary responsibilities include: provision of initial psychiatric evaluations for diagnosis and medications; input into treatment and treatment planning; ongoing medication management and prescribing for established patients; medication education; information/support/psychotherapy as indicated; consultation with clinic nursing personnel and other staff through case consultations and/or team meetings; routine associated patient care tasks such as lab and toxicology orders, EHR case record documentation and E-prescribing.

Clinic hours of operation are Mondays 8:30 am – 7:00 pm and Tuesday – Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Day(s) of the week and scheduling of the work hours for full day, half days, etc. within business operating hours is negotiable. Due to the nature of the work we do, on-site provision of services is required, however, some hybrid/telehealth hours may be considered.

Providers must be licensed in NY State. Experience with youth as well as adults is preferred. Experience with Medication Assisted Treatment for Substances Use Disorder is also preferred. Hourly compensation for this contractual position negotiable, commensurate with experience and credentials.
