Role Overview

We're hiring a
Freelance Ecommerce Copywriter

to support ongoing copy needs across email, website, blog, and marketing activations for two established DTC beauty brands, each with its own positioning, voice, and customer segments.

This is an execution-heavy role designed for an experienced freelancer who can work independently, move quickly, and write copy that drives conversion and revenue. You'll work directly with the Ecommerce Manager in a small, fast-moving team. Once direction and business context are provided, this role is expected to execute autonomously and deliver high-quality copy with minimal oversight.

This is an ongoing, retained engagement with clearly defined scope and expectations - not a on-off contract.

Scope of Work

Email

  • Write campaign and promotional emails tied to launches, offers, and seasonal moments
  • Support lifecycle and flow copy updates as needed
  • Optimize subject lines, preview text, hooks, CTAs, and body copy for performance
  • Write with clear intent: revenue-driven, brand-aligned, fluff never
  • Typical workload includes multiple campaign emails per week, with occasional flow updates

Website Content

  • Write and update PDPs, landing pages, collection pages, and educational site content
  • Clearly articulate value propositions, benefits, differentiators, and proof points
  • Collaborate with Ecommerce Manager and Marketing leader on copy improvements tied to conversion performance
  • Maintain consistent brand voice across pages and across brands

Blogs

  • Write SEO-informed blog content that supports acquisition and education
  • Turn content briefs and keyword direction into useful, on-brand articles
  • Refresh and optimize existing blog content when needed
  • Balance search intent with brand clarity and conversion opportunities
  • SEO strategy and keyword direction will be provided; this role focuses on writing and optimization, not keyword research ownership

Activations & Campaigns

  • Write copy for product launches, promotions, and marketing activations
  • Develop campaign-level messaging that can be adapted across channels
  • Ensure messaging ladders up to the offer, audience, and business objective

What Success Looks Like

  • Clean, on-brand copy delivered on time with minimal revision cycles
  • Most deliverables approved with minor or no revisions
  • Copy clearly reflects the brief: offer, audience, channel, and goal
  • Feedback is about nuance or optimization, not fundamentals
  • Clarifying questions are asked early when something is unclear
  • Proactively brings suggestions and flags issues early
  • Communication is clear, concise, and low-friction
  • Files are organized, labeled, and immediately usable
  • Strong collaboration without needing constant direction

Requirements

  • Experience writing copy for ecommerce / DTC brands
  • Ability to write across multiple brands or product lines with distinct voices
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating email, website, and long-form content
  • Clear understanding of ecommerce fundamentals: CVR, AOV, CAC, retention
  • Ability to shift tone and depth by channel (email ≠ PDP ≠ blog)
  • Comfort writing both conversion-focused and educational copy
  • Ability to manage workload independently within a part-time structure
  • Fast turnaround, strong communication, and high attention to detail

Engagement Details

  • Freelance / 1099
  • Up to 20 hours per week (typically 15-20 hours)
  • Ongoing work, not project-based
