    Position: EL Teacher Long Term Substitute

    Qualifications: 

    • Daily Sub rates apply
    • Must be registered with EDUStaff, LLC
    • Valid Michigan teaching certificate required.
    • K-5 ESL Endorsement (NS) or K-5 Bilingual Spanish (YF) Endorsement

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct English Language Development (ELD) instruction to ELs in grades YK-5 in both designated ELD settings (pull-out, separate ESL classes) and integrated ELD settings (push-in, co-taught support).
    • Collaborate with elementary content area teachers to support English Learners (ELs) within core classes.
    • Utilize the WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020, to incorporate English Language Development standards.
    • Contribute to grade-level data review meetings and Professional Learning Communities. Support meaningful student and family engagement opportunities for multilingual learners. Build upon the cultural and linguistic assets of ELs to support equitable educational opportunities.
    • Implement effective instructional routines based on current research, the SIOP Model, and the WIDA Standards Framework. Collect, analyze, and communicate relevant data for ELs & Former ELs (FELs).
    • Leverage instructional technology to support making content comprehensible and developing academic language for ELs.
    • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to support newcomer ELs and their families.
    • Administer EL assessments (including WIDA Screener & WIDA Access) and communicate results & implications. Contribute to the growth and development of the EL Program.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
    • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
    • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
    • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
    • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
    • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    • The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
    • The worker should provide consistent and reliable attendance.
