About the Role
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in managing multiple capital projects to successful outcomes. This effort extends across the life span of a project, including planning, design, construction, and transition to operations.
Responsibilities
Client Relations
- Establish a positive and close working association with colleagues, building mutual respect, trust of judgement.

Communication and Presentation
- Prepare letters, reports, meeting minutes, dashboards and other documents clearly, effectively and efficiently.
- Communicate ideas in discussions and presentations in a confident, convincing, polite and professional manner.
- Gain familiarity with various team member roles and responsibilities.
- Promote and maintain open communication between all project team members, consultants, inspectors, agencies, and the supporting subcontractors and trade participants.

Technical Fundamentals
- Effective in using computer applications for cost and schedule tracking.
- Develop working knowledge of building engineering systems and construction techniques.

- Develop working knowledge of Quality Control Techniques.
- Participate in ensuring field compliance with project specifications and technical requirements.
- Develop working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local codes and regulatory requirements.
Cost Management
- Gather project information to define program, scope and timing to inform project budget.
- Track ongoing project costs against established project budget.
- Analyze budgets, timelines, and planning for impact to established project metrics.
Schedule Management
- Maintain project schedules.
- Participate in project activity tracking and managing course corrections.
- Support communication of schedule to clients and users.
- Support project close-out, start-up and training in accordance with facility management best practice standards and technical requirements.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure all safety protocols/regulations are being followed for construction projects.
- Troubleshoot and elevate complex issues that arise in an urgent yet responsible manner to the Project Manager.
- Understand contracts for all parties (consultants, general contractors, vendors, suppliers, etc.), communicate effectively to team members, ensure team members are communicating effectively with each other, resolve conflicts, develop trustworthy relationships with clients, solve problems, and be able to conceptually provide/analyze total project budgets and schedules (design, permitting, regulatory approvals, construction, equipment, furniture, etc.).
- Follow the project management process from the beginning. Every project must follow a standard and organized path from the project initiation to project completion. Be able to identify opportunities to expedite the process without compromising the goal or final product.
- Employ a diverse set of skills and assist in resolving project, client, and people management issues.
- Play an integral role in establishing collaborative and productive relationships with project teams, including architects, engineers, consultants, commissioning agents, contractors, and business partners.
Qualifications
- Entry level Project Management experience; 2+ years' experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Self-starter with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, energetic environment and welcomes change
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 20% day and/or overnight travel required within the state
