We are hiring a Material Handler for our Detroit, Michigan warehouse operations. The Material Handler will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving, loading, unloading, and organizing materials within the facility. This role is essential for maintaining smooth workflow and ensuring that materials are available when and where they are needed. A strong commitment to safety and a good understanding of material handling equipment are key to success in this position. You will be a critical part of our logistics chain.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other transport vehicles.
- Move materials within the warehouse using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
- Organize and stack materials in designated storage areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock checks.
- Ensure that all materials are handled according to company safety standards.
- Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper working order.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times, including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift certification is a plus.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 70 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and protocols.
- Familiarity with logistics and supply chain operations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime as needed.
- Commitment to safety and the proper use of PPE.
