We are seeking a meticulous and organized Receiving Clerk to join our dynamic warehouse team in Washington, D.C. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for all incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy, quality, and efficient processing. This role is crucial to our logistics operations, maintaining the integrity of our inventory from the moment it arrives. You will be responsible for unloading merchandise, verifying counts against purchase orders, inspecting for damage, and accurately entering data into our inventory management system. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety are paramount in this position. You will work closely with our inventory control and shipping departments to ensure a smooth flow of goods. Compliance with all warehouse safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory. This role requires a degree of physical stamina, including regular lifting of items up to 40 lbs, and standing for extended periods. We are looking for a reliable individual who can work independently and as part of a team, contributing to the overall efficiency of our logistics hub. Key Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from trucks and other vehicles.
- Verify received goods against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect all incoming merchandise for damage or discrepancies.
- Accurately record all received items into the inventory management system.
- Route received goods to the appropriate departments or storage locations.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area, adhering to safety standards.
- Communicate any issues or discrepancies to supervisors promptly.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment as needed (certification may be required).
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times while on the warehouse floor.
- Participate in inventory counts and audits.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment preferred.
- Basic computer skills for data entry.
- Ability to perform tasks involving manual labor, including lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Understanding of warehouse safety procedures.
