Our growing logistics operation in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a diligent Receiving Clerk to manage the incoming flow of goods into our warehouse. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for deliveries, responsible for accurately documenting, inspecting, and processing all incoming shipments. Your organizational skills and commitment to accuracy are vital for maintaining inventory integrity and ensuring a smooth transition of products into our system.
Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming shipments from trucks, verifying contents against purchase orders or shipping manifests.
- Inspect goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies, reporting any issues immediately.
- Accurately record received items into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Tag and label received products as per company standards.
- Organize and stage received goods for put-away into designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized receiving area, adhering to all company safety policies.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified), to move goods.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and other departments regarding deliveries.
- Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times, especially when handling materials or operating equipment.
- Assist in conducting regular inventory checks and reconciliation as needed.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, particularly in receiving, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting purchase orders and shipping documents.
- Basic computer skills for data entry into WMS.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including moderate Lifting (up to 60 lbs) and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording information.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and the importance of using PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with material handling equipment is a plus.
