Jensen Hughes is seeking an Engineer specialising in Fire Suppression/Alarm systems design, for our growing business in the UK and Ireland. Why Join Us

As a Fire Suppression/Alarm Design Engineer at Jensen Hughes, you will be an integral part of a dynamic technical team, working with our experienced Engineers alongside other teams you will work on the industry's leading technical projects. You will be given the opportunity to progress rapidly. Responsibilities
Plan and direct engineering activities for your own projects. Take the technical lead role in projects. Prepare and present technical reports and presentations. Design fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with BS 5839 (Parts 1 and 6), Approved Document B and project‑specific fire strategies. Develop fire alarm layouts, schematics and cause‑and‑effect matrices suitable for design and regulatory approval. Produce technical reports, specifications and design notes. Respond to design queries, RFIs and technical clarifications. Undertake site visits to review installation progress against design intent. Support commissioning and testing activities. Assist in resolving non‑conformances and design changes. Responsible for all aspects of the fire suppression disciplines on site including inspections of fire protection, fixed extinguishing/sprinkler systems. Produce fire suppression system design documents such as drawings, hydraulic calculations for all types of buildings in accordance with BS 9251, BS EN 12845, LPC rules, NFPA standards and FM Global data sheets. Witness testing and commissioning of all fire suppression systems, carrying out regular site inspections during installation and for existing systems. Communicate with clients, architects, consultants from other disciplines, and approval authorities. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or related field. LPCB qualifications/BAFSA training would be preferred. Experience in code consulting and design of fire suppression/fire alarm systems, in a project design environment. Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership. Experience in relevant engineering software such as hydraulic calculation software, AutoCAD, Revit and SprinkCAD etc. Training available as necessary. Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills. Full UK driving licence. Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies and good communication and negotiation skills.
