About the Scheme NFU Mutual’s Technical Trainee Scheme is designed to support the growth of IT talent across our organisation. As a cohort trainee you will join a dedicated team, develop technical foundations in cyber security, and contribute to high‑impact projects such as cloud transition, data centre exit and digital customer portal.
What you can expect From day one you will receive a structured development programme that combines hands‑on experience with recognised qualifications. Your responsibilities will include:
Complete a cyber security apprenticeship or relevant professional qualifications, with full training and dedicated study time.
Rotate through a range of cyber security teams, gaining hands‑on experience across Cyber Operations, Vulnerability Management and other specialist areas.
Build your knowledge of how cyber security integrates with wider Group IT, working on real systems, projects and technology solutions.
Key Skills & Qualities
Customer Focus: Experience in customer‑facing roles with a commitment to excellent service.
Problem‑Solving and Logical Thinking: Ability to analyse and resolve issues effectively.
Strong Communication Skills: Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal.
Learning Agility: Eager to learn and adapt to new challenges.
Digital Literacy: Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Organisation and Attention to Detail: Capable of managing tasks efficiently and accurately.
Requirements To support your success on the scheme we ideally look for candidates with at least:
Four GCSEs at grade 5/C or above, including English and Maths.
At least two A Levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification ideally in IT related subjects – but we welcome applications from individuals with alternative experiences or pathways.
