Position Summary
The Medical Assistant supports providers in delivering high-quality care to patients with diabetes-related foot conditions. This role assists with clinical and administrative duties, including patient intake, wound care support, and clinical documentation. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in patient safety, education, and continuity of care. Training will be provided for our office.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
- Assist providers with diabetic foot exams, wound care, nail care, and minor in-office procedures
- Clean, dress, and assist with wound care per provider instructions
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments
- Administer injections or medications as allowed by state law and training
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as glucose checks, bandaging, and dressing changes
Patient Education & Support
- Educate patients on diabetic foot care, wound care instructions, and post-visit care
- Reinforce provider instructions regarding foot hygiene, offloading, and follow-up care
- Assist patients with mobility challenges in a safe and respectful manner
Documentation & Administrative Support
- Accurately document clinical findings and procedures in the EMR/EHR
- Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and prescription processing
- Communicate effectively with front office staff regarding patient flow
Compliance & Safety
- Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment
Must Have Experience (Required)
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical healthcare setting
- Experience in podiatry, diabetic care, wound care, or a related specialty
- Hands-on experience assisting with procedures and patient care
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems - we use ModMed
- Strong knowledge of infection control and sterile techniques
- Experience working with diabetic, elderly, or mobility-impaired patients
Required Education & Certification
- Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited program
- Current CMA, RMA, or equivalent certification (or eligibility per state regulations)
- Current CPR/BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wound care management and dressing changes encouraged
- Familiarity with podiatry instruments and diabetic foot assessments
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Pay: $ $22.00 per hour
