Professional Traffic Operations Engineer

To support our continued growth, we are seeking a skilled on-call, part-time and licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) to join our team.
Summary

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in traffic engineering, specifically in conducting Traffic Impact Analyses (TIA), Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Trip Generation Analyses, and Parking Analyses. This role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality technical assessments, support project permitting processes, and develop solutions that balance mobility, safety, and environmental stewardship. This position is fully remote. Some occasional paid travel may be required for site visits throughout the state of California.
Responsibilities

• Conduct Traffic Impact Analyses (TIA) and Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) for a variety of land use and infrastructure projects, for CEQA/NEPA environmental documents, permitting, and planning projects.
• Perform Trip Generation Analyses and Parking Demand Analyses
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for regulatory review
• Collect, analyze, and interpret traffic data using industry-standard methodologies
• Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams to develop effective traffic mitigation strategies
• Provide technical guidance to staff as needed
• Stay current with industry trends, tools, and standards related to traffic engineering and transportation planning

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) in California
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in traffic engineering and traffic studies
• Strong knowledge of traffic analysis methodologies, trip generation, and parking demand modeling
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with traffic analysis software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, or similar)
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Experience working with environmental permitting processes is a plusHourly Rate Range:

$45-$55/hr based on experience
