We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and experience working within ophthalmology or medical office settings. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality eye care while developing your expertise in ophthalmic procedures and patient support.
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Conduct patient intake, including collecting medical history and verifying insurance information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform diagnostic tests including visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurements, Visual Field testing and slit-lamp examinations using aseptic technique.
- Maintain accurate medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Prepare exam rooms with necessary equipment, ensuring adherence to infection control standards and aseptic technique.
- Educate patients on eye health, post-procedure care, and medication instructions to promote optimal outcomes.
- Support front desk operations when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow, utilizing retail math skills for efficient clinic operations.
- Experience in ophthalmology or medical office environments with a focus on patient care highly desired.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and ophthalmic procedures.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Experience operating optical equipment and performing diagnostic testing such as visual acuity assessments or intraocular pressure measurements helpful. Training available for desirable candidate.
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms for documentation and record-keeping.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced clinic setting.
