Role Summary: Expected Health is hiring a remote Patient Coordinator to help patients schedule their diagnostic imaging appointments. Ideal for nursing/PA/NP/med students who want flexible, clinical-adjacent work. ~6–8 hrs/week, worked weekday mornings (8:00 AM–1:00 PM PT). No cold-calling sales; patients already want appointments.

About Expected Health

Expected Health is building modern infrastructure to connect patients, doctors, and imaging clinics, starting with making diagnostic imaging scheduling (MRI/CT/X-ray/Ultrasound) seamless and stress-free for patients.

Why this role is a great fit for a clinical trainee

If you're in a nursing, NP, PA, or medical program, you're already learning how to communicate clearly, protect patient privacy, and navigate clinical workflows. This role lets you apply those skills in a real-world setting by helping patients complete time-sensitive imaging appointments - without needing to be onsite in a clinic.

Schedule requirement: This is a part-time role (~6–8 hours/week) and the work must be completed weekday mornings between 8:00 AM–1:00 PM Pacific Time.

What you'll do (Care Coordination / Imaging Scheduling)

You'll support patients through the imaging appointment process by coordinating across patients, provider offices, and imaging clinics:

  • Monitor and manage new imaging appointment requests using our digital platforms
  • Track each request and drive it to completion with timely follow-ups
  • Communicate with patients via phone, text, and email—clear, calm, patient-first guidance
  • Contact imaging clinics and doctor's offices via phone/email/fax to request or confirm appointment details
  • Maintain accurate documentation of communications and appointment status in electronic systems
  • Interpret and explain basic imaging terminology and what patients should expect (within scope)
  • Adapt to evolving processes and suggest workflow improvements (we're a startup)

Important: This is not cold-calling sales. You're helping patients who already want appointments.

What we're looking for

  • Currently enrolled in a Nursing / NP / PA / MD/DO program (or recent grad), OR have healthcare coordination/admin experience in the U.S. healthcare system
  • Comfort with healthcare terminology and patient-facing communication
  • Able to handle PHI responsibly and follow HIPAA practices
  • Confident making outbound calls to clinics to follow up on scheduling + strong phone presence (warm, responsive)
  • Tech-forward: fast on a computer, comfortable juggling multiple browser tabs, email, templates, and shortcuts
  • Reliable internet + ability to take outbound calls during the scheduled work window
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and self-direction
  • Strong English speaking skills (native-equivalent)

Nice-to-have (not required)

  • Any exposure to radiology workflows, referrals, or scheduling
  • Experience with EMRs/EHRs or medical office workflows
  • Familiarity with fax-based healthcare communication (yes, it's still real)

What you'll learn (especially valuable for clinical trainees)

You'll get real exposure to care coordination and healthcare operations, including: referral-based scheduling workflows, radiology/imaging terminology, professional patient communication, and HIPAA-safe documentation in a fast-moving startup environment.

Scope of role (non-clinical)

This is a non-clinical coordination role. You will not provide medical advice, triage symptoms, interpret results, or make clinical decisions. Your job is to coordinate scheduling and keep patients informed of next steps.

Work environment & tools

You'll need a reliable laptop/desktop, strong internet, and a quiet/private space for patient calls. You should be comfortable using email, spreadsheets, and internal tools (we'll train you on our systems and provide scripts/templates).

How we define success

Success looks like: fast response times, high completion rate (requests driven to scheduled appointments), accurate documentation, and patient-first communication.

Training & onboarding

Paid training provided. You'll shadow workflows, use approved scripts/templates, and ramp up gradually before owning requests independently.

Schedule commitment

Work is completed weekday mornings 8:00 AM–1:00 PM PT. Must consistently be available at least 4 weekday mornings within that window.
