Community Education is looking for an energetic swim instructor to assist the lead instructor for Saturday swim classes

Position Summary

The Assistant Swimming Instructor supports certified swim instructors in delivering safe, engaging, and effective swim lessons for participants of varying ages and skill levels. This role is responsible for helping maintain a positive learning environment, ensuring swimmer safety, and assisting with class organization, demonstrations, and skill development. This position is every Saturday starting April 11 - May 30

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead instructor in planning and conducting swim lessons according to the program's curriculum and safety standards.
  • Support students in the water by demonstrating skills, offering guidance, and providing individualized encouragement.
  • Monitor participants closely to ensure safety and proper technique throughout each lesson.
  • Help set up and maintain equipment before, during, and after classes.
  • Observe student progress and communicate relevant feedback to the lead instructor.
  • Encourage a fun, inclusive, and confidence-building environment for swimmers of all abilities.
  • Enforce pool rules and safety protocols at all times.
  • Provide general assistance with class organization, attendance tracking, and transitions between groups.
  • Assist in responding to minor incidents and alert the lead instructor or lifeguard when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Strong swimming skills and comfort working with children and/or beginner swimmers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, patiently, and positively.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching, coaching, and working in an aquatic environment.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and the ability to follow direction from lead instructors.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Previous experience as a swimmer, coach, camp counselor, or similar role is an asset.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent work in and around the water.
    Must be able to lift light to moderate equipment and assist swimmers as needed.

Required Dates:

Saturdays, April 11-May 18, 2026

Times:

Saturdays: 7:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. (approximetly)

Pay Range: $15.92/hr.-$23.00/hr.; dependant on experience and certifications
