The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD ("The HARRIS CENTER") is looking for a certified Pharmacy Technician II Float to embark on a rewarding healthcare career The Pharmacy Technician II Float performs processes required for preparing consumer prescriptions according to the rules and regulations of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician II performs duties and tasks associated with assisting customers with enrolling in Patient Assistance programs. Provides both inpatient and outpatient support relative to pharmacy functions including medication orders and prescriptions. Enters physician orders accurately into pharmacy system, including medication strength and route.
Your Role in Action:
- Assists patients with prescribing to Patient Assistance Programs to acquire "free medication" where applicable and appropriate for the patient.
- Prepares prescriptions
- Pre-packs supplies, generates reports and maintains appropriate inventory levels
- Conducts monthly unit inspections where medications are dispensed, stored, and administered.
- Identifies and retrieves outdated supplies.
- Orders pharmaceuticals and supplies in a manner that optimizes cost and contract compliance
Compliant with agency educational and licensure requirements.
- Outpatient:
- Accurately enters patient information into Pharmacy Computer system.
- Enters correct medication information, including medication strength and route.
- In-patient:
- Must be knowledgeable of CPEP formulary to answer questions from physicians, nurses as to what medications available and strengths.
- Prepares unit of use when possible
- Pyxis Med Station responsibilities:
- Pulling correct unit dose medications
- Correctly fills medications into unit of use bins.
- Reconcile dispensed/ ordered medication report.
- Performs monthly nursing unit inspections: PES/CSU/CRU/PH-CRU
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
Education:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience:
- 2 years of related experience working in a pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and 1 year of experience doing independent pharmacy assistance program (PAP) functions.
- Must have some hospital pharmacy exposure.
- 2 years of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's license.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician License (CPhT) through the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Candidate must have well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills, be a team player with a desire to provide quality work. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be computer literate and able to use software effectively. Should also demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively converse and listen to others and construct clear and concise written communication.
- Ability to identify and offer solutions to resolve problems using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Able to utilize basic word and Excel documents.
