Job Description
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

4.1 Operationalize and implement the corporate EHS strategy.

4.2 Coordinate, implement, and execute the safety programs for the site, including both personnel and process safety.

4.3 Assist the operations organization in identifying hazards, risks, controls, and barriers to ensure safe operations at the facility and conformance to regulatory, consensus, and voluntary standards (from Cal-OSHA to ISO). Provide professional guidance to anticipate, identify, evaluate, and isolate safety hazards and risks of all types.

4.4 Provide professional advice on best practices and methods for specific hazard management and control, and barrier maintenance for site hazard reviews, such as JSA/JHA, HAZOP, FMEA, etc. and all change reviews (MOC).

4.5 Analyze EHS training needs then design, deliver, and evaluate the effectiveness of EHS training, including activities such as developing and maintaining and training matrix and calendar, approving content of training programs, ensuring trainers are qualified to provide training, and regularly reviewing training materials and results.

4.6 Conduct regular inspections and audits of EHS programs at the facility to measure conformance/compliance and ensure minimization of risk.

4.7 Perform or coordinate industrial hygiene/ergonomics evaluations. Interpret and analyze the results of the studies and evaluations, recommend corrections as implicated in study results.

4.8 Identifying, selecting, and monitoring key performance indicators for the EHS program. Works with facility management and corporate governing teams to establish strategic goals by gathering/reviewing pertinent safety, environment, and operations information.

4.9 Operationalize and implement the corporate EHS strategy. This may include advising and sharing information with Mitsubishi Chemical America (MCA), affiliates and other Mitsubishi companies about local and/or federal regulations, planning and advising other departments about safety and environmental regulations compliance for risk elimination or mitigation, and liaising with affiliates as required.

4.10 Ensure complete and accurate maintenance of EHS records to document compliance and conformance to EHS standards and expectations. This includes creating, updating, and maintaining EHS of work instructions (WI), procedure (SOP), forms, and logs.

4.11 Administrate the site investigation program for accidents/incidents, including providing investigation guidance when needed, providing input to develop metrics, analyzing incident data to identify trends, reports data in a clear and concise manner, and assists operations in completing obligations on time.

4.12 Ensure the Emergency Response team for the facility can respond to any process or personnel emergency as defined and identified in the site response plan.

4.13 Maintain close communication with the operational managers and supervisors to assist in investigating and troubleshooting EHS problems and opportunities for improvement, including advising on budgeting and cost considerations for operational and improvement/capital items.

4.14 Exhibit exemplary conduct always in dealing with other MCCFC employees, and any outside contacts. Contribute to a healthy, positive, and safe environment. Promote self as a team member.

4.15 May be assigned, and be expected to perform to acceptable standards, any relevant related duties as required by management

6.0 KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in physical science, engineering, occupational health and safety, or related field. (May substitute Degree requirement for High School Diploma or GED plus 5 years directly related experience.)

Competent in MS Office applications.

Extensive knowledge of OSHA, CALOSHA and EPA/CUPA/Process Safety regulations in California.

Work Experience: 3 to 7 years of Manufacturing experience in a safety role with progressing responsibility and demonstrated ability to work independently.

Industry Knowledge: Experience in chemical manufacturing, heavy manufacturing, pharmaceutical, energy, semiconductor, or other processing industry.

Preferred
Safety Certification (SMS, OHST, CIT, ASP, CSP, etc.) preferred.

Knowledge of process safety management preferred.

Demonstrates familiarity with and understanding of a broad range of OHS concepts with depth of technical knowledge in some hazard areas.

Applies cognitive and technical skills to access, analyze and evaluate information to think critically, generate and evaluate complex ideas and inform OHS strategy and practice.

Applies critical thinking, information gathering, communication skills and judgment to identify and analyze routine and sometimes complex OHS problems to generate practical evidence-informed solutions while taking into
