What You'll Do:
- Assist the Dispatcher with scheduling and coordinating delivery loads to ensure timely and efficient service to customers.
- Support daily dispatch operations by communicating with drivers, yard staff, and customers regarding delivery schedules and changes.
- Enter and maintain accurate delivery, load, and product information in the computer system.
- Use building materials knowledge to help ensure correct products are scheduled, delivered, and returned when necessary.
- Provide professional, friendly customer service by answering questions and assisting with delivery-related inquiries.
- Help maintain organization of dispatch records, delivery tickets, and related documentation.
- Coordinate with warehouse and yard personnel to support smooth daily operations.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager to support the success of the team and business.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in the building materials industry is required.
- Product knowledge of building materials is strongly preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to enter data accurately and use email and standard office software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are a must.
- Ability to work as part of a team and support fast-paced operations.
- Must be available to work every other Saturday (half-day) or as needed based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
- Regular use of hands for typing, writing, and handling paperwork.
- Visual acuity required for computer work, scheduling, and reviewing delivery documents.
- May be required to occasionally lift or move light materials or paperwork up to 25lbs.
- Comfortable working in both office and yard environments, including exposure to heat, cold, and outdoor conditions as needed.
- Must follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when in the yard.
