Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated RN Supervisor to oversee weekend nursing operations within our Nursing Home. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. This role involves supervising nursing staff, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, and coordinating patient services during weekend shifts. The RN Supervisor will play a vital role in maintaining high-quality care across various departments, including medical-surgical, emergency medicine, geriatrics, behavioral health, and specialized units such as dialysis and dementia care.

Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during weekend shifts to ensure optimal patient care delivery
  • Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physical examinations using advanced physiology knowledge
  • Manage medication administration, IV insertion, catheter care, tube feeding, and sterile procedures following aseptic techniques
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of medical records and documentation
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory experience, medical imaging, sonography, and spinal taps as needed
  • Lead infection control initiatives and implement infection prevention protocols in accordance with NCQA standards
  • Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate charting and documentation
  • Coordinate discharge planning, family education, and health coaching to support patient recovery and well-being
  • Supervise emergency procedures including airway management, ventilator use, cardiac catheterization support, and acute pain management
  • Facilitate case management activities involving utilization review and utilization management for appropriate resource use
  • Provide training and mentorship to nursing staff on ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, DME documentation, and other medical documentation standards
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols including sterile processing, infection control measures, and aseptic techniques during all procedures

Qualifications

  • Valid RN license with current registration
  • Extensive clinical experience in acute care settings
  • Proven supervisory or nurse management experience supervising multidisciplinary teams during weekend shifts
  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology (including medication administration), and medical terminology
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics (memory/dementia care), pediatrics (neonatal/infant/toddler care), behavioral health patients, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities
  • Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations; skilled in specimen collection/processing and phlebotomy
  • Knowledge of infection control practices; sterile processing; airway management; ventilator support; suturing; gastric lavage; spinal taps; laboratory procedures; medical imaging techniques; sonography; cardiac catheterization; oxygen therapy (including neonatal ventilators)
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage staff effectively while maintaining high standards of patient care
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and educate patients/families effectively
