Shift Opening: Monday - Friday, 1st shift (8am - 5pm) with weekend availability as needed
Rate of Pay: $22.46/hour (set by contract, non-negotiable)
This position is full-time (40 hours per week)
About this Contract:
Security Officers perform a variety of duties. This position is a supervisory officer for a state office building. This position requires that the supervisor:
- Coordinate and direct contracted security personnel, including training, scheduling, and discipline;
- Manage schedules and assignments for security personnel and ensure proper coverage at multiple site locations;
- Be available to assist in case of an emergency or deal with unruly individuals on the job site in a calm and professional manner.
- Maintain positive and productive relationships with the client and their on-site and off-site management.
- Foster cohesion among the security team to ensure client and visitor safety and security needs are being met.
- This position will oversee a team of 5-10 personnel.
About the Uniform:
The dress code for this contract is gray dress pants, a white DK Security embroidered button shirt, and a navy sweater vest and tie, all of which will be issued by the company during new hire orientation. Shoes must be primarily black and designed for heavy walking. Boots are preferable. No open-toed shoes or shoes with holes. Additional uniform pieces will be issued as needed.
Other contracts will have varying uniform requirements. Security uniforms are provided at no cost when required by the contract, and must be returned at the end of employment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have at least 1 year of verifiable prior experience in a supervisory role.
- Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL §17(2) .
- Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana). Since our company contracts with the federal government, we must comply to federal laws regarding the use of marijuana, regardless of whether it is used recreationally or medicinally.
- Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL §10(1)(c) .
- Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL §10(1)(c).
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk, including up and down stairs, for 8-12 hours at a time.
- Must be able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
- Must be able to hear conversations in loud environments either in-person or via radio.
- Must be able to use a smart mobile phone or computer to check emails and complete online training.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and navigate difficult conversations with a high-level of understanding and professionalism.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be professional and possess excellent customer service skills.
- Must have excellent personal integrity and a positive attitude.
- Must complete required trainings on time and adhere to all client and company policies.
