Pierce County Day Camp is seeking a Head Chef to lead our Clubhouse camp kitchen for the summer season. The Head Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, kid-friendly meals while ensuring the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and organization. This role is ideal for someone who loves cooking, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys being part of a community focused on children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and prepare daily lunches and snacks for approximately 750 campers and staff
• Follow the provided menu and accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and camp policies
• Manage food ordering, inventory, and kitchen budget
• Ensure compliance with all local health department and food safety regulations
• Supervise and train kitchen assistants or support staff
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
• Coordinate with camp leadership regarding schedules, special events, and theme days

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a chef, cook, or kitchen manager (institutional or high-volume cooking preferred)
• Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices
• Experience working with food allergies and special diets
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Must enjoy working in a child-centered environment
• Food Handler's Certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
