Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Working Foreman with extensive hands-on welding experience to supervise a team of welders to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to precise specifications. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise in various welding processes with effective leadership skills to assign tasks, train personnel, inspect work quality, and troubleshoot complex issues while maintaining safety standards.
Core Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Interprets equipment drawings, assembly specifications and part details for job completion.
- Assigns tasks to employees and estimates work hour requirements for completion of assignments.
- Ensures that time is recorded on jobs correctly.
- Set up machinery and equipment required for achieving tasks.
- Establishes plans to meet production schedules and reports on the progress in achieving those plans.
- Coordinates the equipment build activities with other foremen.
- Engages in the completion of equipment builds with workers supervised.
- Performs in-process and final visual inspections of equipment.
- Interprets company policies and instructs workers in compliance.
- Enforces safety rule compliance and reports violations and injuries to management and human resources.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, shop equipment performance, and the quality of manufactured products.
- Analyzes and resolves work conflicts and assists workers in solving work problems.
- Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to management for repair and maintenance.
- Completes any Quality System records/activities requirements.
- Travel to Customer sites as needed to perform any of the duties mentioned above.
What You Bring
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of welders and fabricators, including assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a positive and safe work environment.
- Welding & Fabrication: Perform complex, hands-on welding and fitting tasks using various processes (e.g., SMAW, FCAW, MIG/MAG, TIG) on materials such as structural and stainless steel to support project completion.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect finished welds for quality and compliance with relevant industry codes and blueprints (e.g., AWS D1.1, AISC requirements), taking corrective actions as needed.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce all safety regulations, conduct daily safety meetings, and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and equipment to maintain a safe work environment.
