The Role
We are partnering with a rapidly growing, private-equity-backed industrial services company on a confidential search for an HR Generalist. This is the first dedicated HR hire for the organization and a highly visible, high-impact role reporting directly to the CEO.
The HR Generalist will play a critical role in building and formalizing the HR function as the business continues to scale across multiple states. This individual will own approximately 50% staffing and recruiting and 50% core HR generalist responsibilities, supporting a predominantly hourly, operations-heavy workforce.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who wants true ownership—partnering closely with executive leadership to design scalable people processes, establish foundational HR infrastructure, and directly influence how a PE-backed organization grows.
Key Responsibilities
Staffing & Recruiting (≈50%)
- Own full-cycle recruiting for hourly, frontline, and select salaried roles across multiple locations.
- Partner closely with hiring managers to define role requirements, priorities, and realistic hiring timelines.
- Manage job postings, recruiting platforms, and applicant tracking workflows.
- Build and maintain candidate pipelines for recurring and hard-to-fill positions.
- Coordinate pre-employment processes and ensure a smooth transition from offer acceptance through onboarding.
HR Generalist Responsibilities (≈50%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions related to policies, benefits, onboarding, and HR programs.
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and coordination with brokers and vendors.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance and a positive employee experience.
- Oversee HR compliance activities including I-9s, employee files, DOT requirements, and required training.
- Support performance management processes, including review cycles, documentation, and manager guidance.
- Assist with employee relations matters, performance issues, and corrective action documentation.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and records.
- Monitor employment law and regulatory changes and implement practical updates as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in an HR Generalist and/or Recruiting role, ideally within a small to mid-sized organization.
- Demonstrated experience owning full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles.
- Working knowledge of benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, and performance management.
- Experience supporting multi-site, operations-heavy, or DOT-regulated environments strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Practical, business-minded approach to HR.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
