Our portfolio includes Trains Magazine and TrainsPRO, the most trusted brands in the rail industry, and FreightWaves Playbook, the leading media and education platform serving the trucking industry – particularly small carriers and owner-operators.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a proven, independent B2B sales hunter (1099 contractor) to own and grow two underdeveloped but high-potential revenue verticals:

1. Rail Industry (Trains & TrainsPRO)

You will be the primary monetization lead for TrainsPRO and Trains Magazine, prospecting all rail-focused advertisers, including manufacturers, technology providers, infrastructure and engineering firms, safety, MRO, finance, and professional services.

2. Small-Carrier & Owner-Operator Trucking (FreightWaves SMB)

You will also be the primary monetization lead for FreightWaves Playbook, a new media platform targeting fleets under 25 trucks and owner-operators – insurance, factoring, fuel cards, maintenance, leasing, compliance, ELDs, dispatch tools, and operational SaaS.

You will sell across print, digital, newsletters, Playbook coursework categories, FWTV, and custom programs, and Trains Magazine buyers events with autonomy to build advertising and sponsorship solutions that match buyer intent.

What You'll DoSales Execution

  • Build these categories from the ground up – prospecting, pitching, closing, and renewing.
  • Prospect aggressively using LinkedIn, outbound research, and industry knowledge.
  • Develop and close new B2B advertising partnerships.
  • Create integrated proposals that align advertiser objectives with Firecrown's platforms and audience.
  • Maintain a disciplined pipeline and accurate CRM reporting.
  • Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and operations to execute campaigns – but you own the sale.

Market Intelligence

  • Bring back insights on advertiser demand, pricing sensitivity, competitor activity, and product opportunities.
  • Help shape future SMB and rail ad products through direct market feedback.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of B2B media or advertising sales experience, preferably in transportation, industrial, manufacturing, or SaaS.
  • A documented ability to hunt, prospect, and close without reliance on inbound leads.
  • Experience packaging and selling multi-product media solutions.
  • High autonomy, strong commercial instincts, and tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Familiarity with rail or trucking buyers is a major advantage.

This role is not a fit if you need heavy enablement, inbound leads, or a highly structured environment.
