Supervises and coordinates activities of workers involved in the production of precision metallic or non-metallic workpieces.
Job Description
- Supervises all assigned shift personnel in the production of precision machined parts to meet or exceed company and/or customer standards.
- Plans production operations and coordinates established priorities for production, utilizing knowledge of production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities, and human resource requirements.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure product quality meets specifications.
- Reviews daily production reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs while meeting specifications.
- Coordinates the training of and/or personally trains all shift personnel to ensure continuous improvement of production, setup, and maintenance skills to meet company quality and production requirements.
- Initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures, in compliance with company policies on performance and behavior.
- Coordinates shift personnel to comply with company safety and housekeeping standards.
- Assists in supervision, machine setup and maintenance, and production while working on other shifts, as assigned by management.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production and personnel data using a computer.
- Communicates and coordinates with employees in other departments to ensure scheduled production and quality requirements are met.
- Instructs employees in the use of Statistical Process Control or other statistical analysis methods.
- Notifies appropriate personnel to order repair or maintenance parts and supplies as required.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned by management.
- Participates and contributes in Management Review Meetings.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of general industry and company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of math and writing skills to successfully perform the essential job functions.
- Knowledge of operation, setup, and maintenance of precision machining equipment and processes.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control methods.
- Knowledge of performance and quality-based methods of supervision.
- Skill in demonstrating general hand dexterity sufficient to complete normal job functions.
- Skill in administering company practices, policies, and procedures while supervising shift personnel.
- Skill in the use of personal computers.
- Ability to see well enough to use computers, measuring devices, and other job-related materials and/or equipment.
- Ability to communicate with managers, supervisors, subordinates, and other company personnel to sufficiently perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to stand or walk up to 100% of the time.
- High school education or the equivalent plus experience supervising in a precision industrial or technical environment.
- Must be willing to take courses designed to enhance technical, supervisory, and/or management skills.
- Instruction may be provided on company premises or through educational institutions or seminar activities.
Pay: $80, $90,000.00 per year
