Day-in-the-life

TekPro has partnered with a successful food processor in Milwaukee to add a skilled maintenance professional to their team for the long term. Picture this: you arrive for 2nd shift, review the PM board, take a quick walk-through of the processing and packaging lines, and prioritize your plan. A conveyor needs alignment, a VFD throws a fault, a pneumatic actuator slows, and a HazCom audit is due—your expertise keeps production safe and on schedule.

What you'll do
  • Own the repair and upkeep of facility systems and processing/packaging machinery.
  • Carry out preventative (PM) maintenance tasks on company equipment to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Diagnose and perform timely hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical repairs across the lines.
  • Repair plumbing to prevent water damage and return fixtures to full functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and work safely on electrical systems up to 480V, including 120/208/240/480 voltage.
  • Apply working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs to resolve controls-related issues.
  • Conduct hazardous communication (HazCom) audits and mitigate potential safety risks.
  • Maintain organized work areas and strong housekeeping practices.
  • Pitch in with other duties as assigned to support production goals.
What you bring
  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on training that equips you with the required skills.
  • 1–5+ years maintaining packing/production machinery in the food industry.
  • Deep respect for safety rules and regulations and the discipline to follow them.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and proven electrical troubleshooting capability.
  • Comfort working with 120/208/240/480 voltage systems.
Tools & tech you'll use
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and HMIs
  • Conveyor systems
