Communications Specialist

Duties

• Develop and edit press releases, articles, social media content, and other communication materials following AP style guidelines to ensure clarity and professionalism.
• Manage social media accounts by creating engaging posts, monitoring interactions, and analyzing engagement metrics to optimize outreach strategies.
• Support media relations efforts by building relationships with journalists, responding to media inquiries, and coordinating interviews or press conferences.
• Conduct research on relevant topics to inform content development and ensure accuracy in all communications.
• Assist in planning and delivering public speaking engagements, presentations, and community outreach events to promote organizational initiatives.
• Proofread and edit all written materials for consistency, tone, and grammatical accuracy before publication or distribution.
• Collaborate with marketing and public relations teams to develop campaigns that enhance brand awareness and public engagement.

Requirements

• Strong writing skills with a keen eye for detail; experience in journalism or related fields is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in AP style for journalistic writing and editing.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present ideas clearly and confidently during public speaking engagements.
• Experience managing social media platforms and creating content tailored for diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of media relations strategies and the ability to foster positive relationships with journalists and community partners.
• Strong research skills to gather accurate information quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to proofread meticulously, ensuring all materials are polished before release.
