Position Summary
The Software Engineer & Cloud Solutions Architect serves as a technical leader responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering enterprise-grade custom applications and cloud modernization initiatives. This strategic role bridges complex business requirements with robust technical execution, leading full-stack development, mission-critical third-party integrations, and the organization-wide transition from legacy on-premises infrastructure to secure, scalable cloud environments.
The position functions as the Tier 3 escalation authority for critical technical incidents and provides executive-level architectural guidance to senior leadership on modernization strategy, security compliance, and long-term technology roadmaps.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
· Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, custom enterprise applications using a modern technology stack including HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Liquid), C#, Python, and Microsoft Power Platform (Power Pages, Power Automate, Dataverse).
· Architect and implement high-impact business solutions, such as the Card Shop v2 e-commerce platform, with seamless integration of third-party RESTful APIs (FedEx shipping, Stripe payments, Google services).
· Drive the strategic migration of legacy on-premises systems to cloud-native architecture (primarily Azure), evaluating infrastructure, defining modernization paths, and optimizing cost, performance, and security.
· Identify and automate manual business processes, including API-driven workflows for shipping label generation, data synchronization, and cross-system orchestration.
· Perform advanced root-cause analysis, network forensics, and log interpretation for Tier 3 incident resolution, serving as the final point of escalation for high-severity issues.
· Participate in strategic planning sessions, delivering technical feasibility assessments, risk evaluations, and recommendations for new platforms and initiatives.
· Mentor technical team members and champion best practices in secure coding, cloud governance, and architectural standards.
QualificationsQualifications & Experience
· 5+ years of progressive professional experience in software engineering, systems architecture, and cloud infrastructure modernization.
· Expert-level proficiency in full-stack web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/Liquid) and backend development (C#, Python, or equivalent).
· Deep expertise in Microsoft Power Platform, Azure cloud services, SQL Server, and identity management technologies (OAuth, Auth0).
· Proven track record designing and implementing complex API integrations and enterprise automation solutions.
· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve mission-critical systems at Tier 3 level.
· Strong understanding of secure development practices, compliance frameworks, and cloud security principles.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for executive stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience leading cloud migration programs and modernizing legacy environments.
· Familiarity with government compliance standards (e.g., CMMC, DFARS) and penetration testing methodologies.
· Prior success delivering revenue-impacting solutions through automation and process optimization.
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a closely related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant prior experience.
· Relevant industry certifications are a strong plus.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and market benchmarks for software engineering and architecture roles in the DC Metro region.
