Our fast-paced New York City logistics hub is seeking a meticulous Receiving Clerk to manage the intake of goods. This position is essential for maintaining accurate inventory control and ensuring that all incoming shipments are processed efficiently and correctly. You will be responsible for verifying deliveries, inspecting items, and documenting all received products within our system. Accuracy, organization, and a commitment to safety are paramount in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming shipments, meticulously checking contents against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect all received goods for damage, defects, or discrepancies, documenting any issues.
- Accurately record all received items into the warehouse management system (WMS) or relevant tracking software.
- Apply appropriate labels or tags to incoming inventory.
- Organize and stage received goods for efficient put-away by the warehouse team.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly receiving area, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely to move incoming stock.
- Communicate any receiving discrepancies or issues to supervisors and relevant departments.
- Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times, especially when handling goods or operating equipment.
- Assist with inventory audits and other logistics support tasks as needed.
- Prior experience in a warehouse receiving role or similar logistics position is highly advantageous.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents, purchase orders, and product labels.
- Proficiency in basic computer data entry.
- Physical capability to handle moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in verification and data recording.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and the mandatory use of PPE.
- Good communication skills for interacting with delivery personnel and internal staff.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team structure.
- Familiarity with WMS is a plus.
