Upper Merion Township, located in King of Prussia, PA, is looking for an energetic Network Administrator. The Network Administrator is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of computer hardware and software, system upgrades and replacements, and day-to-day program operations throughout the Township complex. This position requires excellent technical, customer service, and organizational skills to support network operations on-site and in-house systems management and engineering support for LAN and WAN infrastructure, application services, servers, storage systems, and infrastructure services. The duties of the Network Administrator include (but are not limited to): Designs, configures documents, maintains support, and troubleshoots infrastructure and server technology. Monitors network utilization and error statistics to ensure that the network infrastructure is operating at optimal performance and reliability levels. Manages systems and provides support to maintain high availability and fault tolerance of all networks, applications, systems, and resources. Develops and maintains current systems, applications, security, and network/server configurations and documentation. Performs and/or oversees server operating system and software application installation and upgrades, and notifies users of system changes and downtime. Configures and oversees the maintenance of the township’s email, web, and filtering servers and all associated software, including township data backup and antivirus policies, as well as any other additional server architecture that may be added in with future developments. Keeps up-to-date documentation of applications, systems, and network equipment. Maintains records of all problems, resolutions, and inventory relating to computers and other technology systems and software. Maintains records including user accounts, computer system and security configurations, parts inventory, computer operation activity, maintenance schedules, problems and actions taken, and prepares and presents reports as necessary. Recommends upgrades and solutions to support present and future needs for the organization and stakeholders. Monitor all issues involving security breaches and/or breakdowns, in addition to any other areas as defined by the Director of Information Technology. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of industry standard best practices, state-of-the-art network architectures, advances in network hardware and software technologies, and serves as high-level technical expert to the district. Promotes and ensures security and confidentiality of computer systems and data; plans and implements disaster recovery procedures. Possess an in-depth knowledge of VMware. Maintains backup and restoration procedures on respective systems and infrastructure. Collaborates with Township Departments, other townships, and partners to provide technical support and guidance on local and regional networking initiatives. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and technologies by attending required training sessions. Provides training and/or knowledge sharing as required. Responsible for after-hours (365 x 24 x 7) onsite and remote access support of mission-critical systems. Serves as on-call support to assist users in the township and other buildings, and supports other technology staff members. Maintains high-level security access to critical computer servers and systems. Projects a positive image of the township and its programs and services through a positive customer-service-oriented attitude. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: College degree preferred – Computer Science or Technology major. Minimum of two relevant certifications (MCSE, CNE, CCIE, etc.). 4+ years of Network Engineering experience. Microsoft administrator experience. Mobile device management experience with Windows, iOS, macOS, Chrome, and Android. Possess advanced skills with Cisco and Barracuda. Knowledge of caching technology, RADIUS, and TACACS. Experience with DNS and IP administration. Expertise in LAN protocols such as HSRP, Spanning Tree Protocol, and VLAN trunking. Experience with TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
