Position: Coordinator I - Recreation
Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services
Annual Salary: $77,723.10-$99,196.50
FLSA: Exempt- Not Overtime Eligible
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Coordinator I - Recreation will be responsible for organizing, promoting, and evaluating activities, as well as managing personnel, marketing efforts, budgeting, and maintaining positive community relationships.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Coordinate and administer activities for the Lancaster National Soccer Center in alignment with the mission and goals of the Parks, Arts, Recreation & Community Services Department.
  • Assist in developing and implementing goals, policies, and procedures to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the Center.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff and volunteers, ensuring adherence to best practices in personnel management. Coordinates marketing efforts in the community regarding classes, services and events.
  • Plan and execute soccer tournaments, leagues, camps, clinics, and other events hosted at the Center, including coordinating schedules, vendors, and any necessary permits or permissions.
  • Assists in the preparation and tracking of grant applications and sponsorships initiatives.
  • Process payroll data, registration program information, and monitor expenditures in accordance with the budget. Assists with administering performance and rental contracts for facilities.
  • Develops schedules for facilities, transportation, and activity supervision.
  • Prepare various reports and maintain accurate records of Center activities. Respond to inquiries and requests from stakeholders verbally and through email.
  • Foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including City employees, community groups, and the media. Oversee the maintenance and scheduling of soccer fields, ensuring they are in optimal condition for play and coordinating with maintenance staff for repairs and upkeep.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols for soccer activities, including emergency procedures, first aid provisions, and adherence to relevant codes and guidelines.
  • Explore opportunities to leverage technology for program registration, communication, and data management, implementing software solutions to streamline operations and enhance user experience.
  • Manage and support City special events.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Knowledge of:
  • Cultural and social needs of the community.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree, with emphasis in Business, Public Administration, Recreation or closely related field; two

(2) years of experience in the field; OR any equivalent combination of education and work experience desired.
Other Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid CA driver's license

Working and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with some travel to different sites; incumbents will be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends and may be required to travel outside City boundaries to attend meetings.
  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting:
    1. To stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
  • Work is also performed outdoors and requires the ability to
    1. Withstand the heat and cold of the elements, stand for long periods of time, lift heavy objects, walk moderate distances and work for long periods including 16 hour days
