GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment throughout the County; Prepares documentation, delivers and manages technical training; maintains training content, guides, and materials up-to-date. Provides ongoing user support by troubleshooting issues, prioritizing tasks, and coordinating responses to resolve technical problems efficiently; performs related work as required. Manages inventory, performs routine maintenance, and makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; Works with IT staff, HR, and department heads to coordinate Security Awareness Training (SAT); gathers, evaluates and reports findings. Responsible for processing departmental surplus computer equipment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; staffs a centralized help desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice; helps users in resolving problems.
Installs, configures and upgrades operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational departments.
Installs, assembles and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; pulls cables and rewires or directs the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
Assists in instructing County employees in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management; provides instruction or written documentation where required; train users in effective use of applications.
Schedule and manage Security Awareness Training sessions, ensuring timely user participation and compliance; analyze results to identify any potential vulnerabilities.
Able to work with Windows 11 operating systems.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.
Performs duties of System Administrator in his/her absence.
Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.
Performs related duties as required.
COMPUTER SUPPORT/TRAINING COORDINATOR
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree in Information Technology; supplemented by vocational/technical training in computers; supplemented by one (1) to two (2) years previous experience and/or training involving computer operation and repair; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Pay: $ $30.88 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
