Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating press brake machines to produce high-quality sheet metal components. This role requires a strong understanding of fabrication processes, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools. The Press Brake Operator plays a critical part in ensuring our products meet strict quality standards and specifications through efficient machine operation and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines to bend sheet metal according to detailed blueprints and specifications.
- Program CNC press brakes for precise operations, ensuring accurate angles and dimensions.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine tooling and machine settings.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other quality inspection tools to verify dimensions.
- Perform routine maintenance, adjustments, and troubleshooting on press brake equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for each job, ensuring proper alignment and safety during operation.
- Conduct quality inspections of finished parts to confirm they meet design specifications and tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety standards at all times.
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving CNC laser cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, plasma cutting, electrical discharge machining, stamping presses, welding, and assembly tasks.
- Operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts or cranes when necessary for material handling.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, setup procedures, and tooling selection.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, and other quality inspection instruments.
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions and tolerances.
- Knowledge of various fabrication processes such as CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, electrical discharge machining, welding, machining centers (CNC milling machine), CNC lathe, stamping presses, and assembly is highly desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to operate forklifts or cranes is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance during production runs.
