Major Duties

What to Expect

Plumbing: Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing utilities, supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems and showers. Works from building plans, blueprints and sketches.

Electrical: Installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, tests and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, associated fixtures, controls and equipment. Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring and engineering diagrams, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, replacement, type, size, gauge, balance, load for continuity and safe operations of electrical lines, lighting, circuits, and systems.

Carpentry: Uses techniques to construct, install, repair, and modify wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fits and structural soundness. Assembles items using a variety of joining techniques and are skilled in the operation of general and precision carpentry and woodworking equipment.

Welding: Operates various electric arc resistance welding machines such as spot, seams, and flash. Works with a variety of metals such as stainless steel, cast steel, aluminum and low grade steel of various size. Fabricates, modifies, and replicates a variety of components, parts and assembles with equipment in order to ensure proper functionality and operation.

Frequently lifts and carries materials and equipment weighing up to 45 lbs independently and over 45 lbs with assistance.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  • Experience is required in at least two of the following trades, such as: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding.

Possesses the knowledge and experience that demonstrate a Journeyman level capability in the combination of the above noted trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position.

Plans and lays out work, tracing hard to locate defects or problems, and satisfactorily completes repairs, installations, and modifications with little or no technical advice.

Must have the ability and knowledge to operate various equipment such as, but not limited to, scissors lifts, bucket trucks, forklifts, and bobcats with all standard attachments.

Must possess or be able to obtain applicable government operator permits.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Military Spouses

Furnish a copy of the PCS order identifying a dependents-authorized move and the sponsor's reporting date to the new duty location.

For spouses with current or prior Federal service, submit a copy of the most recent performance appraisal rating and, if applicable, documentation of appointment eligibility.

Veterans Copy of DD214 citing general or honorable discharge.

Persons with Disabilities Proof of Disability Documentation from: doctor, licensed medical professional, licensed rehabilitation professional, or any federal, state, District of Columbia, or US territory agency that issues or provides disability benefits.

Spouses of relocating active-duty military members applying through Military Spouse Preference Program must upload all documents listed above. Spousal Preference applicants hired in a flexible position will not lose their spousal preference eligibility until declination or acceptance of a regular Full-Time or Part-Time position. Spousal Preference may only be utilized once for each permanent relocation.
