We are seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to take charge of installing, retrofitting, maintaining, and providing technical assistance for CNC and advanced machinery at our clients' sites throughout North America. This role involves supporting machine updates, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary rework in the field. We need a proactive, mechanically adept individual with a solid background in machine tools and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Work with internal teams, clients, and contractors to coordinate machine installations and retrofits.
- Execute machine setup, commissioning, production validation runs, and final testing to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and lubrication systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Handle warranty repairs and deliver continuous service support to our clients.
- Educate customer teams on the correct operation, maintenance procedures, and safety guidelines, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
- Complete detailed service reports, checklists, time sheets, and all necessary customer documentation.
- Disassemble and ready machines for shipping, ensuring accurate labeling for smooth reassembly at the destination.
- Maintain adherence to company standards for quality, safety, and environmental protection during all field activities, contributing to a safe workplace.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving measures, enhancing efficiency and profitability.
- Solid mechanical foundation with hands-on experience with CNC machine tools (3-axis, 5-axis, lathes, servos, etc.).
- Practical experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, and/or Bosch Rexroth controls.
- Proven electro-mechanical troubleshooting abilities.
- Competent in reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Skilled with hand tools, electrical test equipment, and various machine shop tools.
- Familiar with software testing, troubleshooting techniques, and recovery processes (with engineering support available).
- Prior experience with performing basic machining operations and mechanical alignments during installations.
- Prior metal cutting experience is a significant advantage.
- High school diploma or GED, plus 10–15 years of experience in a skilled trade,or
- Associate's degree, plus 6–10 years of relevant experience,or
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship or a technical certification program.
- A degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Controls Engineering is considered a strong asset.
- Willingness to travel or be on the road 70-80% of the time.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
