Job Title: BPU99I- Sr. Manager, Procurement
Brief Description: Assist leading corporate and procurement strategies for goods, services, and real estate within a life sciences environment, ensuring cost efficiency, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment with organizational objectives. This role drives digital transformation, continuous improvement, and stakeholder engagement to support clinical research and patient access for both developing and commercialized products in addition to corporate procurement services.
Specific job duties:
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Support and execute procurement strategies for pharmacy benefits for manufacturers along with clinical trial and regulatory services.
- Ensure compliance with organizational structure, roles, and competencies for Corporate Services and implement changes to achieve optimal performance as needed.
- Support with the Implementation of digital procurement tools and processes to enhance efficiency, transparency, and compliance in sourcing regulated materials and services.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize purchasing effectiveness and achieve cost savings without compromising quality or regulatory compliance.
- Benchmark industry best practices and integrate them into procurement operations for life sciences.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (clinical operations, R&D, quality assurance) and external vendors (laboratory suppliers, CRO partners, etc.) to ensure alignment and collaboration.
- Negotiate and manage contracts for critical scientific services and materials to maximize value and mitigate risk.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, including FDA, EMA, ICH guidelines, GCP, GLP, ISO 9001/13485, and data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA).
- Maintain robust documentation and audit readiness for all procurement processes, including sourcing decisions, vendor qualifications, and contract approvals.
- Support with the Implementation risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supply chain disruptions and compliance breaches.
Examples of Procurement Categories
- Laboratory & Research: Lab equipment, consumables, reagents, chemicals, and instruments.
- Clinical Trial Support: Investigational products, comparator drugs, clinical kits, packaging, translations, CRO partners, logistics services.
- Scientific Services: Bioanalytical testing, central lab services, imaging, data and statistical management, home health nursing among others.
- Technology & Systems: ERP platforms, eClinical tools, data analytics software, enterprise systems and services, and cybersecurity solutions.
- Facilities & Real Estate: Office leasing, construction services, and maintenance contracts.
- Professional Services: Regulatory consulting, quality assurance audits, and training providers.
- Contractors, outsourced labor and all others, as assigned.
Performance Metrics
- Achieve annual cost savings and avoidance targets while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
- Increase managed spend and proactively engage in the procurement processes for clinical, regulatory and enterprise projects.
- Assist with developing and sustaining talent to maintain a high-performing procurement organization that supports scientific excellence.
Desired Skill and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5-8 years of experience in procurement or supply chain leadership roles, preferably in life sciences or healthcare.
- Proven experience in project management, process redesign, and change management.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Experience in service-oriented organizations and regulated environments.
- Familiarity with procurement technology platforms (e.g., Workday Strategic Sourcing) and life sciences compliance systems.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, PMP).
- Line management experience.
