SUMMARY

Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, saws, straightener, beam line, torches, shot blaster and drill presses with little or no supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

• Develops layout and plans sequence of operations
• Operates machines in the manufacture of structural metal products
• Straightens rail and creates curves per prints and specifications
• Runs beam line and saws
• Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications
• Performs all operations with highest regard to personal safety and the safety of others, and at a level of performance acceptable to the supervisor
• Responsible for housekeeping in the general area
• As apparent or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, written instructions, manuals, safety rules, etc. Candidates with additional shop skills who can work in other areas of the shop are preferred. Proficiency in the use of forklifts, cranes, slings, chains, hooks and other appropriate devices or equipment is preferred. Required to handle the products safely and efficiently, training will be provided.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Some training will be provided.

AUTHORITY

The person performing this job has authority to stop the process to initiate corrective action if the process and/or equipment is not working properly.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, crouch, and walk. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job there are some required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Protective eye wear and steel toe boots are required and are reimbursed based on the company's PPE reimbursement policy. The employee may occasionally be required to perform work in an elevated work area. The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection, which is provided.

Pay: $ $28.00 per hour
