Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Preschool Assistant to join our vibrant early childhood education team. In this role, you will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for young learners. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster curiosity, social skills, and foundational learning in preschool-aged children. This is a Monday - Friday position the hours are as follows:
Monday - Friday - 8:30AM - 11:45AM (Preschool)
Monday - Friday 3:15PM - 6:00 PM (Afterschool)
This is a salaried position and you are paid during breaks and during the summer.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers with lesson planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote literacy, math, and social-emotional skills.
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and helping children develop routines.
- Provide attentive care to children, including toddler care when needed, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Engage children in play-based learning activities that stimulate curiosity and support developmental milestones.
- Help maintain a clean, organized classroom environment aligned with health and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to foster a collaborative educational atmosphere.
- Support curriculum development efforts, especially in areas like Montessori methods or specialized programs for children with autism or disabilities.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early learning standards is essential.
- Experience with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with special education practices, including working with children with disabilities or autism.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and engage with parents.
