Trucking Dispatcher

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Trucking Dispatcher to coordinate freight movements and manage transportation operations efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, familiarity with transportation management systems, and a solid understanding of logistics and supply chain processes. This role is vital in ensuring timely deliveries, optimizing fleet utilization, and maintaining excellent service standards within a fast-paced logistics environment.

Duties

• Coordinate and dispatch trucking operations using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
• Schedule pickups and deliveries, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and delivery windows.
• Utilize GIS, GPS, and other tracking tools to monitor fleet locations and optimize routing for efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette.
• Enter data accurately into systems like AS400 and Freight Management platforms to maintain up-to-date records of shipments, schedules, and driver logs.
• Manage shipping & receiving activities, including coordination with 3PL providers for freight movement.
• Oversee fleet management tasks such as maintenance scheduling, compliance checks, and utilization analysis.
• Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
• Maintain clear documentation of dispatch activities, incidents, and operational issues for reporting purposes.

Experience

• Proven experience in transportation planning, logistics, or dispatching roles within a supply chain environment.
• Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like SyteLine or AS400.
• Strong analysis skills to interpret data related to freight movements, fleet utilization, and route optimization.
• Knowledge of GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and fleet tracking solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally.
• Proficiency in data entry, typing skills, and managing complex schedules efficiently.
• Experience working with 3PL providers, shipping & receiving processes, and freight coordination is preferred. This position offers an opportunity to be a key player in a dynamic logistics team where your expertise will directly impact operational success.
