Position Summary
The Pediatric Clinical Coordinator plays a key leadership and support role in ensuring efficient, high-quality clinical operations within a pediatric care setting. This position serves as a liaison between providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams, helping coordinate patient care, clinical workflows, and daily operations. The Pediatric Clinical Coordinator supports providers and staff by monitoring patient flow, assisting with clinical oversight, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and pediatric best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Coordination & Workflow Management
- Coordinate daily clinical operations to ensure smooth patient flow and timely care delivery.
- Monitor provider schedules, patient volume, and staffing levels to support operational efficiency.
- Assist in addressing real-time workflow challenges, bottlenecks, or patient-care issues.
- Serve as a point of contact for clinical staff regarding daily operations and patient flow concerns.
Staff Support & Oversight
- Support clinical staff (medical assistants, nurses, technicians) in meeting clinical standards and performance expectations.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing education for clinical team members.
- Provide guidance and coaching to staff on pediatric protocols, documentation standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with leadership on performance improvement and staff development initiatives.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, pediatric clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, HIPAA, infection control).
- Assist with clinical audits, quality assurance initiatives, and corrective action plans.
- Support medication safety, vaccine storage and handling, and equipment checks.
- Monitor adherence to pediatric safety standards and patient care protocols.
Patient & Family Experience
- Support a positive, family-centered care environment.
- Address patient or family concerns related to clinical care in collaboration with providers and leadership.
- Promote clear communication and compassionate interactions across the clinical team.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Assist with documentation, reporting, and tracking of clinical metrics.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and interdisciplinary coordination efforts.
- Support special projects, clinic initiatives, and operational improvements as assigned.
- Collaborate with front office and administrative teams to align clinical and operational workflows.
Qualifications
- Clinical background required.
- Pediatric clinical experience strongly preferred.
- Prior leadership, lead, or coordinator experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of pediatric workflows, patient flow management, and clinical documentation.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and lead effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (NextGen experience preferred, if applicable).
