Role Summary
The Hoisting Superintendent 3 will help plan, manage and execute all hoisting aspects of assigned projects as the assigned lift director. This position will be responsible for managing material, equipment and personnel involved in hoisting operations, maintaining knowledge of client-specific procedures and documentation and overseeing assigned Hoisting Superintendents across geographically dispersed projects. The Hoisting Superintendent 3 will be a subject matter expert in hoisting operations supporting project teams both locally and nationwide as needed. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
- Coordinates preplanning activities for Assembly and Disassembly components such as crew size, schedule, materials, types and sequencing of trucks and trailers, meetings, and crew composition, and verifies crew is properly trained on specific Assembly and Disassembly operation
- Works with PreCon teams to establish budgets and resources required for projects pursuits.
- Collaboratively works throughout the organization. This role is equal parts Project Team, BlueHat, Self Perform and HES. Hoisting Superintendent works with and serves all these groups equally.
- Ensures jobsite coverage, coordinating PTO for all Hoisting Superintendents and foremen.
- Conducts routine quality control checks of the mechanics, drivers, and Assembly and Disassembly crew to verify work and equipment maintenance is conducted in accordance with manufacturer's specifications
- Conducts daily Job Safety Analysis and safety briefings with the mechanic and driver staff and the Assembly and Disassembly crew prior to work starting
- Provides direction on crane set up location(s) and ground stabilization needs based on hoisting requirements
- Works with the Operations Teams to develop a comprehensive hoisting plan for the entire project to include crane type, size, and configuration to support project requirements
- Manages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEOC for all hoisting activities on their assigned projects
- Creates job specific lift plans based on parameters identified through in person site visits and other relevant materials including but not limited to blueprints and drawings indicating height, weight, and hoisting requirements
- Coordinates crane movements by prioritizing when multiple cranes are scheduled simultaneously and de-conflicting competing requirements
- Ensures maintenance and repairs on all equipment are conducted in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and documented by the mechanic staff
- Directs, reviews, and oversees complex rigging plans and requirements to include critical lift planning and documentation
- Performs and completes Operator Evaluations as required by OSHA f)(1)(i) and OSHA f)(1)(ii)
- Collaborates with owner's representatives in project progress meetings as needed.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:
- Manages multiple hoisting superintendents across multiple geographically diverse work locations
- Acts as the primary Hoisting Superintendent for one or more key clients with multiple project locations
- Advises other Hoisting Superintendents on client-specific lift planning and documentation best practices
- Identifies and suggests fleet additions based on market trends and National hoisting needs.
- Guides development of operator and hoisting operations training materials and best practices
- Developing hoisting plans, schedules and budgets for hoisting scopes on future projects
- Participates with the field operations leadership and the project team to put together a project pre plan; implements, monitors and adjusts as needed throughout the project lifecycle
- Consults on lift planning and critical lift activities on smaller projects as needed
- Recruits, interviews, hires and trains Hoisting Foremen and Superintendents
- Coordinate with other functional areas to comply with FAA requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
- Communication skills, verbal and written - Intermediate
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Thorough knowledge and usage in 3D Lift Plan – Advanced
- Ability to assess and optimize assembly and disassembly productivity
- Proficiency in creation and oversight of critical lift plans – Advanced
- Ability to provide excellent customer service through positive interaction with customers
- Demonstrated experience in managing crane maintenance and repair operations
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally
Education
- High School/GED or equivalent (Required)
- In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered
Experience
- 10+ years mobile crane assembly/disassembly, operator, inspection, and maintenance and repair field experience (Preferred)
- 5+ years supervisory experience in the mobile crane assembly/disassembly, operator, inspection, and maintenance and repair field (Required)
Working Environment
- Valid and unrestricted drivers license required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- May require periods of overnight travel
- May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
- Frequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling
- Occasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
