Job Summary: The Pharmacist is responsible for the accurately dispensing medications, providing expert advice on prescriptions and over-the-counter products, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Retail Pharmacy:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accurately dispense prescription medications and verify dosage and instructions.
  • Provide clear, compassionate counseling to patients on medication use, side effects, and interactions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and checking stock for expiry or damage.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Administer immunizations and other clinical services as permitted by state law.
  • Handle insurance claims and resolve third-party billing issues.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and other staff.
  • Uphold cleanliness, organization, and safety standards within the pharmacy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Must be currently licensed with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, drug interactions, and dosage requirements.
  • Proficient in windows-based programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities; effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong quality orientation; attention to detail; ability to learn and adhere to compliance/ audit requirements.
  • Strong organization and follow up skills; ability to effectively multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Solid business acumen and process orientation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
  • At least (3) years of work experience as a licensed retail pharmacist.
  • Immunization administration certification is preferred.

Supervision Received

  • Works under general supervision of the Supervisor of Pharmacy, PIC.

Pay: From $59.85 per hour
