Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our industrial component manufacturing facility in Prairie City, IA. This is a newly created full-time position reporting directly to the Plant Manager and Owner. The ideal candidate will establish and maintain our preventive maintenance program while ensuring all equipment operates reliably and safely. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general building and grounds maintenance
  • Maintain and repair welding equipment including MIG, Oxy-Acetylene, Plasma, and Laser systems
  • Service and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Conduct power and hand tool repair and maintenance
  • Perform light forklift maintenance and repairs
  • Establish and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment
  • Organize and maintain the maintenance department and tool/supply inventory
  • Order parts and supplies directly from vendors, managing vendor relationships
  • Troubleshoot basic automation and control systems
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation
  • Support production team to minimize downtime
  • Organize and establish efficient maintenance department systems and procedures
  • Help design and implement specialized equipment

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Experience maintaining and repairing welding equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
  • English speaking and literacy required for documentation and communication
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and perform physical tasks including ladder work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MIG, plasma, and laser welding systems
  • Understanding of automation control fundamentals
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Basic electrical experience: DC, 1 & 3 phase AC
  • Spanish language skills
  • CDL license
  • Previous experience in component manufacturing or metal fabrication

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs regularly
  • Stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders throughout the shift
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment
