Controller

Law firm is seeking a Controller to join their team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Accounting Department; oversee staffing, training, and workflow
• Manage month-end and year-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Oversee general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, billing, and collections
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance across accounting functions
• Oversee trust accounting (IOLTA), banking, cash application, and client reconciliations
• Prepare and review financial reports, budgets, and key financial indicators
• Partner with CFO and outside CPAs on tax filings, audits, and year-end reporting
• Lead system enhancements, reporting tools, and software implementations
• Support special projects and continuous process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 7–10 years of accounting experience required, including 3+ years in a supervisory role
• Law firm accounting experience required
• Advanced Excel and strong systems aptitude
• Experience with Aderant, ADP, SSRS, or financial dashboards a plus
