Position Profile: Experienced Trial Attorney
Location: NYC or Mineola
Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Personal Injury Trial Attorney with a strong background in defense litigation. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of courtroom experience, particularly in handling high-profile trials. This role demands a deep understanding of personal injury law, as well as expertise in working with complex subjects including biomechanics, expert witnesses, forensics, and toxicology.
Key Responsibilities:
Trial Preparation: Lead case strategy development and execution in high-stakes personal injury litigation. Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents with precision.
Courtroom Advocacy: Represent clients in court effectively, presenting compelling arguments and robust defense strategies in full-blown trials. Successfully navigate complex case presentations and address jury concerns.
Expert Collaboration: Engage with and manage expert witnesses, including biomechanical engineers, forensic specialists, and toxicologists, to prepare and present evidence that supports the defense case.
Client Consultation: Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing clear communication regarding case progress and legal options. Regular client reporting to ensure that clients are informed and prepared for all aspects of the litigation process.
Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy and discovery efforts. Stay abreast of developments in personal injury law and relevant scientific disciplines.
Settlement Negotiation: Evaluate case strength and advise clients on potential settlement opportunities, negotiating favorable terms while maintaining a strong defense posture.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys and support staff, fostering a collaborative and educational environment within the firm.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the New York State Bar and a valid license to practice law.
