Location: Battle Creek, MI | Shift: 3rd | Starting Pay: $40/hour (DOE) | Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Ready for the challenge?Do you thrive on solving tough controls problems under pressure? In this role, you'll safeguard uptime by optimizing electrical and automation systems that power our manufacturing lines. You'll fine‑tune Allen‑Bradley PLCs and HMIs, assist with robotics, and keep vision components healthy—all while ensuring compliance with safety standards and documenting every fix.
Your missionKeep a steady 5‑day schedule with opportunities for weekend/off‑shift overtime. Apply solid electrical, electronic, and mechanical know‑how across complex equipment. Find root causes fast—diagnose and resolve control system faults. Install, wire, configure, and bring up control system hardware/software. Program, calibrate, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI applications (Allen‑Bradley primary; Siemens exposure). Ensure every control system meets safety policies and standards. Execute routine maintenance and repair defective equipment promptly. Perform scheduled inspections to spot issues early. React swiftly to malfunctions to minimize downtime. Collaborate with Maintenance and the Controls Engineer on seamless upgrades and modifications. Support robotic cells—troubleshooting, making program adjustments, and handling routine maintenance with techs. Use a basic understanding of vision systems to maintain and troubleshoot components. Capture accurate maintenance, repair, and equipment history records.
What it takes- High school diploma/GED; Associate's in Electrical Engineering or equivalent certifications/experience.
- At least 2 years of controls experience, especially with Allen‑Bradley.
- Hands‑on familiarity with robotics in manufacturing.
- Experience with vision systems is a plus.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and problem‑solving skills.
- Works well independently and in cross‑functional teams.
- Clear, concise communication; high attention to detail.
- Overtime beyond 40 hours per week is required and is an essential function of the job.
Machines/Technologies: VFDs; PLCs and HMIs (Fanuc, Allen‑Bradley, Siemens); Servo motors
Proficiencies: Mechanical troubleshooting; Journeyman's License; Electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair; Relay testing; High‑voltage systems; Pneumatics troubleshooting; Industrial maintenance and repair
