Electrical Estimator Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire bid process from initial inquiry through final proposal submission for assigned electrical projects.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits (virtual or in-person as required) to thoroughly understand project scope, conditions, and requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive quantity take-offs from blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, and other bid documents.
  • Develop detailed material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
  • Identify and evaluate project risks and opportunities to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Present estimates and proposals to internal teams and external clients.
  • Maintain and update internal cost databases and historical project data.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders during the estimating phase.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years' experience with an electrical contractor
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical installation means and methods, systems, components, and industry best practices.
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Accubid, LiveCount, ConEst, McCormick) and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret complex electrical blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids concurrently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
