Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant for a temporary position within our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support clinical operations, assist with patient care, and ensure smooth workflow in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your dental assisting skills and expand your experience in various specialties, including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. The position requires familiarity with dental software systems and adherence to strict infection control protocols. This position is open to becoming a full time paid position with benefits.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures, including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain aseptic techniques to ensure infection control standards are met
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Record vital signs and medical history accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Open Dental.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical documentation, and coordinating appointments as a dental receptionist when needed
- Explain treatment procedures to patients using appropriate dental terminology and provide post-treatment instructions
- Assist with medical imaging and other diagnostic procedures related to general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or pediatrics
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical coding and documentation for insurance purposes
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental is highly desirable
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
- Experience with X-ray procedures, 3D scanners, and medical imaging equipment is a plus
- Ability to perform chairside assisting across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and documentation
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members
- RDA or DA preferred
- Spanish speaking is preferred
